Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an experienced Senior Governance Officer - (Level 6 Equivalent)

Salary Range:$60 to $68/ph + super

About the Role
The Senior Governance Officer plays a pivotal role in the Fed’s Governance Section, ensuring the smooth operation of secretariat functions for key corporate committees, subcommittees, and working groups. You’ll support the agency in delivering services to portfolio ministers and Parliament with structure, integrity, and confidence in achieving objectives. This role involves managing moderately complex to sensitive tasks under limited direction, leveraging your expertise in administrative management, committee coordination, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage all aspects of committee meetings, including administration, paper coordination, registers, and minutes.
• Provide technical advice and guidance on governance and risk.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Fed governance arrangements.
• Prepare complex correspondence, briefings, and reports, driving innovative solutions.
• Apply industry best practices and support internal policy implementation.
• Foster a high-performing team with quality outputs and technical proficiency.
• Offer expert advice to the Fed on committee and Audit Committee requirements.
• Build and manage key internal/external relationships to achieve outcomes.
• Make informed decisions using professional judgement in a complex, changing environment.
• Support programme and project areas during electoral events as needed.
Essential Requirements
• Qualifications & Skills:
o Knowledge and experience in corporate governance (willingness to obtain qualifications).
o Proven ability to set priorities and deliver quality results on time and budget.
o Strong communication skills, meeting stakeholder needs across a dispersed network.
o Analytical skills to propose change and drive business improvement.
• Other:
Political neutrality and Australian citizenship.
Desirable
• Tertiary qualifications in corporate governance, public administration, or similar.
• Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, Australian electoral law and practice.
