Records Officer - Federal Government Client
Length of Contract:    3 months, Possibility of extension, up to 12 months in total
Location:   Villawood NSW

The OpportunityJoin the Records Operations team within the Records and Information Management Section! As a Records Officer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the seamless management of both physical and digital records. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to preserving Australia’s veteran legacy while working in a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Your RoleAs a Records Officer, you will:

  • Digitise departmental records on demand and deliver within agreed timeframes.
  • Access and digitise records from the National Archives of Australia (NAA) and private storage partners.
  • Prepare physical and digital documentation for transfer to the NAA.
  • Conduct quality control checks and rectify errors in digitisation processes.
  • Create spreadsheets and checksums for digital transfers.
  • Transcribe old consignment lists and assist with group mailbox management.
  • Handle physical tasks, including moving boxes and files (up to 10kg) and assisting with pallet and consignment transfers.
  • Contribute to projects as directed by the team leader and management.
Note: This role is office-based, and flexible working arrangements are not available.

  • A high level of attention to detail and self-drive.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills to plan and prioritise tasks aligned with team goals.
  • Functional expertise in records management, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Experience conducting basic research, analysis, and quality control activities.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfort with manual handling tasks, including moving boxes and files.
Desirable:  Previous experience in records management or knowledge of NAA Preservation standards is advantageous.
