About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer
to join our client's team in Melbourne’s CBD for an 8 week contract
. In this role, you will support our procurement and supply chain operations by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, supplier communications, and reporting.
You’ll play a key role in stakeholder engagement and vendor management, helping us maintain an efficient and compliant purchasing environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong SAP skills and procurement knowledge to make an impact in a dynamic and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise purchase orders using existing supplier arrangements, catalogues, or preferred suppliers. Ensure proper procedures and approvals for non-catalogued purchases, aligned with Procurement Policy.
- Deliver high standards of internal and external customer service and stakeholder resolution management.
- Support the implementation of new supplier arrangements and ensure relevant stakeholders are informed.
- Create, maintain, or retire vendor records in SAP, maintaining full compliance with audit trail requirements.
- Produce regular and ad hoc purchasing reports (e.g., materials back order and framework order reports).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support purchasing goals.
- Liaise with suppliers to manage issues affecting supply, including urgent orders and supply disruptions due to external factors like natural disasters or changes in business needs.
- Proven experience in a procurement or purchasing role, preferably in a corporate or government environment.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems, particularly vendor master data and purchasing modules.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work autonomously.
- Understanding of procurement policies, supply chain operations, and audit compliance processes.
- Competitive hourly rate: $56.43 per hour plus 12.5% superannuation
- Hybrid working arrangement after a 1–2-week on-boarding period.
