Project Manager – VPS6 Equivalent
State Government | Melbourne CBD | 6-month contract
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the development, planning and delivery of a high-impact registration and re-registration program for schools and education providers across Victoria. This VPS6-level role is based in the Melbourne CBD and offers a 6-month contract.
Reporting to the Deputy CEO – Schools, this role will oversee strategic delivery and execution of the program, ensuring timelines, quality outcomes, and resource requirements are met. You’ll work closely with internal teams and senior stakeholders, including legal, finance, project teams and external contractors, to coordinate and drive delivery across a complex and regulated environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading end-to-end project management for school registration and provider re-registration programs
- Developing delivery plans, resource strategies and risk management frameworks
- Tracking and reporting on project progress, milestones, KPIs and outcomes
- Managing program risks and adjusting plans to ensure successful, high-quality delivery
- Collaborating with senior internal stakeholders and project partners across regulatory, legal, and operational teams
- Supporting continuous improvement, program governance, and decision-making processes
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex regulatory or education-focused projects
- Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across senior and diverse audiences
- Strong leadership and project delivery capability, including resource planning and risk management
- High-level critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, especially in complex or changing environments
- Experience managing people, performance, and program outcomes
- A degree in a relevant field and sound knowledge of public sector processes
- VPS6-equivalent contract
- Melbourne CBD location, hybrid working available
- Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
- Must have current Australian working rights
