Project Engineer – Renewable Energy
Location:
Newcastle based | Flexible hybrid arrangements (with site travel)
Our client are renewable energy specialists with years of experience in small to large scale renewable energy projects. They are proud to work in the renewables industry in Australia and New Zealand and firmly believe that all local communities should participate in and benefit from the renewable energy transition.
Delivering specialised engineering services for the development and construction of utility scale Solar, BESS and Wind Projects, there is a significant pipeline of growth in a booming industry and they’re looking for the right person to join the journey.
The Role
As a driven Project Engineer with approx. 2-3 years experience, you will join this small yet agile team and play a key role in all aspects of project delivery. You will be empowered to work independently and trusted to deliver.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys a fast-paced role full of new challenges and new skills, someone who is adaptable, thrives on variety and loves to learn.
Responsibilities
- Conducting engineering tests in the field and development of new testing procedures
- Preparation of engineering reports
- Project management of small projects
- Subcontractor and supplier engagement including tendering and preparation of RFQs
- Coordinate and manage site works
- Basic design work and management of design subcontractors
- Assist in managing budgets, schedules, and procurement
- Liaise with consultants, suppliers, and internal teams
Requirements

The following key requirements will contribute to your success in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Geotechnical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or related field) along with 2–3 years' experience in construction, renewables, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills
- Willingness to commit to site based travel as needed within Australia and New Zealand (typical project duration is 1-4 weeks)
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and Word along with intermediate programming skills e.g. Python, VBA and experience with AutoCAD software preferred.
- Practical fieldwork skills
Full training is provided, so if you don’t know how to perform all of these tasks, there are experts on hand who will teach you.
