Health & Safety Business Partner – Government Utility
Adelaide, SA
6-month contract | $630 daily rate | Immediate start
We are currently partnering with a key government utility to source an experienced Health & Safety Business Partner
to drive strategic safety initiatives across a large and complex business unit. This is a dynamic and hands-on role focused on influencing culture, risk management and WHS capability across operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with leaders and teams across the business unit and People & Safety function.
- Drive a positive safety culture through clear communication, coaching, and two-way engagement.
- Establish and implement a tailored H&S risk management strategy with emphasis on preventing life-changing incidents.
- Support business units with the development, implementation, and monitoring of controls for high and medium risk processes.
- Lead or support the investigation of incidents and embed learnings across the business.
- Participate in internal audits, site inspections and the delivery of WHS training as required.
- Stay up to date with WHS trends and ensure learnings are integrated into continuous improvement efforts.
- Provide expert guidance on relevant WHS legislation and the integration of Safety in Design and other critical frameworks.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive practical WHS experience (essential).
- Minimum 3+ years of WHS risk management experience in a complex, multi-faceted environment.
- Proven ability to influence, partner with senior stakeholders, and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Management systems auditing experience and sound knowledge of WHS legislation.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive safety outcomes while building trust.
- Experience leading or mentoring teams in a health and safety context (desirable).
- Based in Adelaide, with some flexibility and potential travel within SA.
- Must hold a valid driver’s licence and be able to meet health, vaccination and compliance requirements.
- Police and working with vulnerable people checks may be required depending on placement.
