Our client is seeking a dedicated Grounds Officer to maintain and improve the gardens and grounds at their retirement villages and other facilities. This role is essential in creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and aesthetically pleasing environment. The Grounds Officer will perform a range of tasks, including general horticultural duties, minor property maintenance, and occasional landscape projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain gardens, lawns, paths, and roadways to meet service level requirements.
  • Carry out hard landscaping tasks and assist with vegetation management plans.
  • Perform regular garden maintenance including planting, pruning, and chemical weed control.
  • Service and maintain garden equipment and machinery.
  • Attend to general maintenance tasks and respond to emergency repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with external contractors for specialized services when required.
  • Action maintenance requests and ensure compliance with quality standards and legislation.
  • Use online systems to track and close out tasks in a timely manner.
  • Provide professional and respectful communication with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Support fellow team members through mentoring and training to promote a collaborative work environment.
Key Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:
  • Relevant experience or formal qualification in Horticulture, Landscaping, or similar field.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and light machinery.
  • Understanding of waste management and hygiene principles.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and asset management systems.
  • Good knowledge of Work Health and Safety principles.
  • Current Class C Driver's License.
Desirable:
  • Chainsaw Operators Certificate.
  • Chemcert Certificate (Chemical Handling).
  • Knowledge of aged care industry quality standards and legislative compliance.
