We are seeking a skilled Government Relations Advisor for a short-term contract to support the external communication and advocacy of our clients’ major strategic projects. This role is key to helping position these initiatives within government and budgetary processes, ensuring the necessary investment and policy backing is secured.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional who understands the political landscape, government priorities, and how to engage effectively with key decision-makers to influence outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Ports' advocacy efforts aligned with its strategic objectives
  • Provide strategic advice on government policy, parliamentary and budgetary processes
  • Draft compelling briefings, presentations, and reports to communicate the Port’s priorities and proposals
  • Coordinate and support strategic engagement with government agencies, Ministers’ offices, and local authorities
  • Advise on communication and influence strategies to build support across government and stakeholder groups
About You

You’ll bring:
  • Proven experience in government relations, public policy or strategic communication.
  • Strong understanding of WA's political environment, including policy-making and budgetary cycles
  • High-level stakeholder engagement skills, with experience liaising with senior government officials and agencies
  • Exceptional writing, analysis and communication skills
  • Strong project management and strategic thinking abilities
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in political science, communications, law, public policy, or a related field
This is a part-time contract role with flexibility across 2–3 days per week, depending on business needs. It’s ideal for someone looking to contribute meaningfully to WA’s future infrastructure and economic development through strategic government engagement.
