Are you a skilled finance professional looking for a meaningful part-time role? Do you have a background in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping—and a passion for purpose-driven work?
We’re currently seeking a Finance Manager to join a values-led, community-focused organisation working to create positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This is a flexible, part-time position (15–20 hours/week) offering a competitive hourly rate of $60, and is available quick start.
About the Role This hands-on finance role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can take ownership of day-to-day financial management. You’ll oversee core finance functions including budgeting, payroll, reporting, accounts payable/receivable, audit preparation, and compliance.
You’ll also play a key role in strengthening financial systems, supporting funding processes, and providing clear, accurate financial insights to help inform decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable, receivable, and payroll
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial and management reports
- Support audit preparation, compliance reporting, and statutory obligations
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Ensure timely tax submissions and BAS lodgements
- Develop and maintain internal controls, systems, and procedures
- Support funding proposals with accurate costing and analysis
- Collaborate with the leadership team to guide financial strategy
- Maintain strong relationships with external providers (auditors, banks, etc.)
About You
- CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in a similar finance role, ideally within the not-for-profit or Indigenous services sector
- Proficiency in Xero and Excel
- Sound understanding of payroll, tax, and compliance processes
- High attention to detail and excellent time management
- Confident working independently, managing priorities, and reporting to executive leadership
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse team
- Culturally competent, respectful, and values-aligned
