Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Assistant - Communications (APS6)
for a 12-month full-time temporary assignment with a Federal Government Department. This role offers hybrid flexibility and can be based in North Sydney or Newcastle.
About the Role This is a unique dual-role opportunity, blending high-level executive support with strategic communication responsibilities. You will work directly with senior executives, providing key administrative coordination while crafting and managing clear, effective messaging that aligns with the organisation’s priorities.
You’ll be responsible for diary and workflow management, stakeholder communications, briefing preparation, event coordination, and the delivery of communication materials. This is a fast-paced environment where your ability to anticipate needs, juggle multiple priorities, and manage sensitive information will be essential to your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage executive schedules, briefings, meetings and communications
- Draft and deliver strategic internal and external messaging and communication materials
- Prepare correspondence, reports, talking points, presentations and stakeholder briefings
- Act as the key liaison for the Communications division and senior leaders
- Support executive engagement with government and industry stakeholders
- Oversee event logistics, RSVP management, and communication planning for public announcements
- Maintain accurate records, files, and communications in compliance with FOI and branding standards
- Assist with budgeting, travel arrangements, invoicing and reconciliation tasks
Your ability to translate complex ideas into clear messaging, manage stakeholder relationships, and plan proactively will make you a valued asset to the executive team.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum five years’ experience in a similar executive support or communications role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High-level Microsoft Office and digital platform skills
- Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, PR or a related field
