Position Overview
This role is responsible for making informed decisions regarding both proactive compliance programs and reactive investigations, including any necessary follow-up actions such as enforcement or rectification, in line with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve a broad range of environmental and public health issues, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
- Take appropriate enforcement actions in response to non-compliance, using discretion based on the situation, severity, and available legislative tools.
- Conduct routine and follow-up inspections of registered premises in accordance with established procedures.
- Manage a diverse and demanding caseload of environmental health matters simultaneously.
- Stay informed and compliant with all relevant legislation impacting the role.
- Provide technical guidance to team members, including reviewing enforcement actions and official correspondence.
- Perform duties outside standard working hours when required.
- A Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in delivering environmental health services, including inspections, investigations, and enforcement.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of public and environmental health legislation, policies, and guidelines.
