An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Design Manager
to join a forward-thinking public sector organisation, leading multi-disciplinary design projects that drive sustainable and safety-first engineering outcomes.
About the Role
As the Design Manager, you will act as the primary engineering lead for complex infrastructure projects, overseeing a range of technical teams to deliver consistent, timely, and cost-effective designs. This role will suit a strategic thinker with strong leadership presence and a commitment to innovation, safety, and quality in engineering delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver compliant and high-quality technical design outputs.
- Ensure safety, sustainability, and engineering standards are integrated across the design lifecycle.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to scope, cost, and manage project deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement and process innovation across design practices.
- Monitor project milestones, cost variations, and ensure timely delivery.
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or similar discipline).
- Demonstrated experience in leading engineering design projects in complex environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Ability to lead teams, drive performance, and ensure alignment with corporate priorities.
- Experience in technical writing, design auditing, and risk assessment.
- Qualifications in Project Management or Business Management.
- Experience in public infrastructure, water, utilities or large-scale asset projects.
- Contribute to meaningful infrastructure that benefits the community.
- Work in a collaborative and safety-focused engineering team.
