About the Client:

Government department tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Currently seeking for Data Scientists to join their busy team for a casual 12 months temporary assignment.


About the Role

As a Data Scientist, you will research and implement innovative techniques and interdisciplinary methods to solve business issues with a focus on application of data science and statistical techniques. In addition, your key duties are as follows:

  • Design statistical, mathematical, and various data science models to conduct analytical work that addresses business issues, initiatives, and the development of new service products 
  • Collaborate across teams, building relationships within Actuarial and Data Analytics (ADA) Division and other stakeholders in the Agency
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and presenting the outcomes of work undertaken, tailored to context and stakeholders
  • Undertake ad hoc modelling and data science requests for the advance of key projects, initiatives or ADA executive requests


About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Proven actuarial / data scientist experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL
  • Working knowledge of Language Models to extract information and design of decision support systems
