Coordinator Environmental Programs and Compliance (Maternity Relief)
About the Role
Ballina Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator Environmental Programs and Compliance
to join their Resource Recovery team on a 12-month maternity relief contract. This rewarding, flexible role provides leadership and technical advice to ensure effective environmental compliance across Council’s Resource Recovery Centre and associated operations.
What you’ll do:
- Lead environmental compliance activities and support best practice waste management
- Provide expert technical advice on waste operations and environmental matters
- Manage licences, approvals, and waste management planning and procurement
- Prepare and present high-quality environmental compliance and engineering reports
You are an organised and proactive professional who enjoys collaborating with diverse stakeholders and delivering real environmental outcomes. You thrive in a supportive team environment and have strong technical knowledge paired with practical experience.
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field
- Experience applying environmental management principles in the waste management industry
- Knowledge and experience managing licences, approvals, and compliance requirements
- Strong report preparation and presentation skills
- Current Class C Driver Licence
- Immunisation against Hepatitis A & B (or willingness to participate in an immunisation program)
- Knowledge of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Local Government Act, and EPA Act
- Experience with environmental management or engineering techniques for landfills and transfer stations
