Our client, a leading mining company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Contract Specialist to join their team for a 3-month contract based in Perth. This role offers an immediate start and will play a key role in managing the full lifecycle of contracts for sourcing materials and services, collaborating with operational teams, and ensuring strategic alignment with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the full lifecycle of contracts, ensuring that appropriate contracts are in place for sourcing materials and services.
  • Assist the Category Management Lead in implementing category strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with site operational teams to ensure that contracts meet organisational strategic objectives.
  • Support the administration of the company’s strategic sourcing strategies for goods and services.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal stakeholders and suppliers. Ensure clear communication and timely resolution of contract-related issues.
  • Supervise procurement activities within sub-categories, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Report on contract status, performance, and compliance to team members. Provide valuable insights to improve regional procurement methodologies based on contract performance.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Law, or related field.
  • Experience: Strong background in contract management, strategic sourcing, and procurement in mining, oil & gas, or engineering sectors.
  • Contract Management: In-depth knowledge of contract legalities, procurement processes, and supply chain management.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Familiarity with industry-specific standards, including safety, environmental, and legal requirements in mining.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, cost control, pricing structures, and financial terms within contracts.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with SAP, Ariba, and MS Office tools. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
Technical Expertise:
  • Skilled in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts to mitigate risks.
  • Strong supplier relationship management and performance evaluation skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve contract performance issues proactively.
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills to manage multiple contracts efficiently.
