We’re seeking an experienced and proactive AO5   Communications Advisor  to support stakeholder engagement and public relations projects across the South Coast Region.

  • Location: Nerang
  • Salary: $67.13 - $72.96 /hour + super 
  • Duration: 6 month assignment 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver strategic communication plans and stakeholder engagement strategies for road infrastructure projects.
  • Advise Project Directors and technical staff on managing difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
  • Draft and coordinate a range of communication materials including newsletters, media releases, ministerial briefings, flyers, and speech notes.
  • Coordinate media and community events such as project launches and milestone announcements.
  • Provide input into risk assessment, crisis communication, and issues management.
  • Contribute to best practice community engagement across all phases of project delivery.

About You:
  • You’re an adaptable, confident communicator with strong experience in public affairs, media relations, and stakeholder engagement—ideally in government or infrastructure settings.
  • You can develop strategic content for diverse audiences and navigate high-pressure situations with professionalism.
  • You have experience supporting large-scale projects and thrive working in fast-paced, dynamic teams.

Mandatory Requirements:
  • Current Class C driver’s licence and own vehicle (for travel to sites and meetings).
  • Willingness to undergo employment screening (e.g. criminal history check).
  • Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card), or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
  • Ability to attend site visits with required PPE (safety boots, 100% cotton long sleeves/pants, wide-brim hard hat).

Desirable:
  • Qualifications in communications, public relations or marketing.
  • Experience in infrastructure project environments.
  • IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement.
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure planning lifecycle.
