We are seeking an experienced property leasing and capital works assistant director who will support the Procurement and Facilities Director and Comcare with the continuation of the Future Workplace Strategy and program of work to renew leases across the agency portfolio. This work may include relocation of sites, new or updated fit-outs and will include a transition to either hot desking or shared desk arrangements.

Contract: 12-months with a potential extension of 2 X 3 months
Location: Canberra, ACT
Eligibility/Security Requirement: Australian Citizenship / Baseline or the ability to obtain one.


Team Overview:
The Procurement, Security and Property team is responsible for providing procurement advice and services across Comcare. It is also responsible for property services, specifically property capital works, as well as security and property operations

Position Overview:
The Assistant Director, Property and Capital Works will develop comprehensive end to end integrated project plans, detailed scheduling, and status reports for the Comcare property portfolio. This role requires the ability to perform effectively under pressure within time deadlines to deliver high-quality professional advice and outcomes that align with broader strategic goals.

Key Duties:

· Manage and co-ordinate capital work projects, including new and renewal of leasing agreements, fit outs, and management of the Future Workplace Strategy.
· Manage assigned projects and develop project plans and identify potential risks associated with capital projects and develop risk mitigation strategies.
· Following Commonwealth Procurement rules, manage project budgets, cost estimates and financial forecasts.
· Prepare and present regular status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
· Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation including plans, reports and progress updates.
· Extensive understanding of local, state and federal regulations and coordinate approvals for project as needed.
· Foster a collaborative work environment.
· Provide supervision to supporting project staff within the Procurement and Facilities team as required.


The preferred candidate will have the following capabilities.
· Experience in complex project management relating to property leasing and capital works/fit outs.
· Have extensive and detailed relevant knowledge, able to provide advice on policy, legislation, processes, and regulation.
· Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders providing a results-oriented service

Qualifications: Desirable

Desirable Proven experience in Project Management, preferably in the field of capital works or construction.
