Payroll Clerks

Payroll clerks prepare payrolls and related records for employee salaries and statutory record-keeping purposes. They are responsible for processing payroll data and managing PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation requirements.

Payroll clerks or payroll officers are also required to interpret Awards and Agreements, ensure company statutory obligations are satisfied, and provide suitable payroll advice and support to all company personnel. They supervise and coordinate the processing of new starters, terminations and redundancies, and are also required to maintain pay records, employee records and leave records.

Other related occupations include inquiry clerks, inspectors and regulatory officers, intelligence and policy analysts, and contract, program and project administrators.
