Chandler Macleod WA is working with Parks Australia-Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment for a WHS Officer in the following areas and parks
Required for:

  • Darwin - will be required to travel regularly to Jabiru (Kakadu National Park)
  • Uluru - this will support Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park
    Roles and Responsibilities include:
    1.Research, interpret and apply technical knowledge to: resolve work health and safety (WHS) issues; develop strategic advice to enable the National Park and broader Parks Division to meet its obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
    2.Work with key stakeholders (EL1 WHS Assistant Director in particular) to develop and implement WHS frameworks and key audit recommendations, including appropriate controls and risk minimisation strategies, in the specific area of expertise.
    3.Contribute to the establishment and implementation of WHS management systems considering longer-term strategic, political or operational outcomes, departmental priorities, emerging risks, and evolving legislative environment.
    4.Prepare briefing material, consultation, communication and implementation plans.
    5.Ensure due diligence obligations are meet regarding reporting on progress and effectiveness of controls against each of these reviews/investigations. Depending on the nature of the review or investigation, this includes reports to the Director of National Parks, key stakeholders and appropriate committees
    6.Develop case review or safety share where appropriate, and closure reports against all reviews/investigations.
    7.Validation of the local, park based WHS control measures implemented against review recommendations in consult with the EL1 WHS Assistant Director, ensuring they achieve the desired outcome and are effectively implemented in the operational environment.
    8.Work closely with National Park Training Officers to identify and address WHS-specific skills, training and capability gaps on park.
