Our client is seeking a WHS Coordinator for their expanding business in Hanwood NSW. The position reports directly to the National Workplace Health and Safety Manager with indirect reporting lines to the Site Manager. The position has direct working relationships with the Site Managers/Supervisors, Live bird staff, Distribution Manager, Production Planner, Maintenance Teams, Quality Assurance teams, Baiada contractors and suppliers.
If successful as WHS Coordinator you will be responsible for the supervision of WHS Officer/s, for supplying departmental resources to ensure effective communication within departments, company, and external personnel.

Objectives of the Role
- Working in partnership with all areas of the business to assist the National WHS Manager in the implementation, review and evaluation of the Bsafe Safety Management System and Audit System. This to ensure the productive, safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors and visitors.
- Identify and apply relevant chain of responsibility (CoR) legislation, regulations, and workplace procedures in relation to heavy vehicles as they apply to an individual’s own job role.
- To assist Return to Work Co-ordinator coordinate Workers Compensation and Injury Management programs.
- Identify and apply the business contractor management system and procedures as it relates to contractors/suppliers/service providers and visitors to site.
- Identify issues that could impact on Health and Safety and communicate to relevant site personnel
- Liaise with regulatory authorities on Workplace Health Safety and Security matters (eg. Workcover NSW, Police, Fire Brigade) only as requested by Senior Management.
You will have the following Essential Qualifications / Licences
- Tertiary (to Cert IV level) qualification in WHS / related science or relevant industry experience and training
- Structured project management training and / or experience
Critical Skills and Experience Required
- Excellent leadership skills including conflict resolution and problem solving
- Ability to make quick and correct decisions “on the job” and long-term decisions
- Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to arrive at and implement long term preventive actions
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent people and communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to achieve departmental targets
- Experience in or knowledge of, poultry processing, and how it can impact on legal requirements in terms of Health and Safety risk
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
