Chandler Macleod are currently looking to recruit an experienced and energetic Distribution Centre Manager for our client in the North Western Suburbs of Melbourne. With a history spanning over 40 years as a successful Australian owned and operated business, our client is currently engaging in a business transformation as part of their broader growth strategy to continue their upward trajectory for years to come. As part of this journey, they are looking to appoint a Distribution Centre Manager who will be critical in driving many of the commercial and operational programs that will support this future success.

Reporting into the Operations Director and leading a team of warehouse and logistics operators, the premise of this role is to guide the strategy and development of the logistics function, ensuring an entrenched culture of operational excellence and initiative. The business is looking to develop further systems efficiencies and so will be looking for their appointed candidate to drive the logistics function of the business with your strong system/IT knowledge. Expectations are that his role will be highly involved with the business's key clients, working together to provide strong service level agreements. This role will be responsible for the overall performance of all Logistics activities once product has been manufactured and will involve warehousing, distribution, inventory control and contract management across domestic transport.

A key role within the operations, this role is earmarked at future progression within the organisation and will require a candidate with a well rounded supply chain management background who understands the holistic landscape. To be considered for this role it is expected that applicants have the following attributes:

  • A strong background in warehouse & logistics management - 5 years minimum - preferably within Retail, FMCG or Food
  • Strong comms with the ability to engage customers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong P&L experience with the ability to manage all operation costs
  • Ability to delegate and influence
  • Proven ability to implement operational processes and KPI's
  • An understanding of SHE issues and Quality principles
