Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a User Experience Designer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

The (position title) will provide a wide range of experience, knowledge, and skills, including, but not limited to:

  • User Experience Responsibility. Deliver innovative design solutions and insights which support a best-in-class experience for the agency's products (such as My Health Record) and services by following a human centred design approach. Supporting this process by way of methods and deliverables such as user journey mapping, experience mapping, user cases and personas.
  • Product Design Delivery. Driving best in class product design through the delivery of interface and interaction design integration. The creation of assets which support the end-to-end process of product design such as wireframes, prototypes through to high fidelity design solutions for implementation.
  • Design Systems and Framework. Design for and maintain tools and processes which support modular design principles, through the creation of design frameworks, interface pattern libraries and design guidelines setting a foundation of consistency, quality, efficiency and clarity in the design delivery process.
  • Insights, Measurement and Validation. Work closely with the team to ensure all design solutions are based on a foundation of user insights and research. Support validation and testing processes through the production of prototypes and activities which support iterating for performance. Methods include multi-variant testing, heat-mapping, eye-tracking and usability testing.
  • Collaboration and Co-design. Work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and users to understand and contribute to project definition then delivering in an inclusive transparent manner. Using techniques such as facilitating co-design workshops and feedback to ensure well aligned design solutions.
  • Process Alignment. Align to the organisations service delivery processes, working in an agile environment with a view to deliver iteratively, efficiently and with lean principles in mind. Participating in activities which support this such as daily stand-ups, retrospectives and showcases.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Advocacy. Be a champion for current design standards (usability, accessibility) within the agency and to vendors. A source of knowledge on latest trends and methods in terms of user experience, user interface and product design practice.

Capabilities

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to plan & deliver verbal and written communications that are impactful and persuasive with the intended audience
  • Ability to influence others - in gaining other's support for ideas, proposals, projects, and solutions
  • Experience in defining experience/interface plans aligned to strategic objectives
  • Experience working strategically, consultatively, and collaboratively with senior team members and a demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated innovation in the application of technology solutions to complex business problems
  • Able to make recommendations about the collection and interpretation of data, Identifying patterns and trends in data sets.
  • Broad experience in integrating user and technical input and knowledge to achieve business outcomes
  • Experience in managing relationships with vendors, contractors, consultants and staff

Experience

  • 3+ years' experience as a UX designer, interaction designer, information architect or similar role.
  • A portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating amazing user-centred design solutions.
  • Demonstrated successful delivery of end-to-end UX on projects from discovery, ideation to production.

Good communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills
