Chandler Macleod WA is working with Parks Australia-Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment who are looking for a APS 5 Training Officer to join their team in Darwin - will be required to travel regularly to Jabiru (Kakadu National Park)
Role and responsibilities
1.Work to build relationships within the community and all staff of Kakadu National Park to more effectively implement training initiatives.
2.Support the implementation and development of the Intergenerational Employment and Training Strategy for the Park and:

  • Oversee the operational delivery of the Parks Junior Ranger and Traineeship Programs (including coordinating school visits by several other staff on Park and work rotations for trainees);
  • Assist Parks staff to develop their own career plans and to be an active participant in managing their own development (with particular emphasis on providing support to both ongoing, non-ongoing and casual Indigenous staff).
  • Work with People and Workforce Development Team to implement an effective mentoring program into the workplace and to roll out programs that build capacity within the Park and broader community.
    Represent the Park at community and on Park meetings with key stakeholders in regards to capacity building and training programs for pre-employment; youth engagement; work readiness development; and other targeted group and individual career development programs.
    3.Assist with the coordination of training programs;
  • Manage the effective delivery of training for park staff by; identifying workforce development training needs, assisting with delivery of training, maintain training records and preparation of reports
  • Manage the training budget in accordance with financial and procurement guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of the National Training Agenda and the use of qualification packaging rules
    4.Provide a Secretariat support service to the park's Training Committee including: schedule meetings, circulate meeting papers; record minutes of meetings and coordinate follow up action items.
    5.Effectively contribute as a member of a team and share the Traditional Owner's vision for the future of the park, participating in the exchange of knowledge, experience and skills between Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff; the community; and the public.
    You will demonstrate your commitment to safety and use your experience and judgment to ensure yourself and your workmates stay safe. Your ability to set good examples of work ethic and integrity together with your positive mind set in dealing with work and people will be highly regarded.
