Trade Assistant
 Position overview
An excellent opportunity exists for a suitably experienced Laboratory Trades Assistant within a Institute’s Facilities Maintenance Department.
The successful candidate will assist the Facility Maintenance team in servicing, repairing and undertaken maintenance of laboratory and relevant plant/equipment.

Key responsibilities
·         Participate, coordinate and/or supervise in-house/ contracted suppliers in respect to removal/disposal process of designated assets within lab environment
·         Carry out light bulb replacement across workspace;
·         Facilitate and/or carry out essential safety measures activities either in person or supervising contractors including but are not limited to inspection and maintenance of fire doors, smoke doors, egress and relevant repair and            maintenance works
·         Routine cleaning and maintenance of fleet car at regular interval with PM
·         Respond to break downs such as replacement of tyres and the like when required.
·         Consult, coordinate and carry out general cleaning works in accordance with PM schedule
·         Cleaning of exhaust ducts located within lab space as part of preventative maintenance
·         Facilitate/coordinate cleaning of lab and office based workstations/under benches/ floors to enable cleaning staff carry out relevant activities
·         Coordinate and/or supervise contracted staff e.g. cleaning staff, removalist, supplier etc. while performing specialist cleaning activities
·         Contribute and/or develop relevant SOP/SWMS in respect to designated activities as required
Key Skills and Experience
·         Previous Trade assistant experience in preferred
·         Have a strong Mechanical aptitude
·         Moderate computer skills
·         Previous customer services experience is preferred
·         Prior experience working with hand and power tools/.
