About the organisation:
Chandler Macleod is proudly recruiting for a Government organisation that aims to reduce risk facilitate cladding across Victorian buildings. There are multiple opportunities for Technical Writers in Melbourne CBD.

About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the VPS5 Technical Writer will be responsible for creative high volume and quality technical documentation in relation to cladding rectficiation and interpreting & translating technical data and concepts.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Leads, edits and drafts technical documentation, translating detailed technical arguments, concepts and information into forms understood by nontechnical audiences.
  • Delivers to reoccurring, strict deadlines with confidence and precision.
  • Interviews and works collaboratively with subject matter experts to collect information and clarify technical issues.
  • Develops and maintains key internal procedures, templates, policies, standards and systems relevant to the role.
  • Provides professional leadership and participates in working groups and meetings to present and discuss how best to communicate technical information and concepts to achieve deliverables.
  • Maintains document registers, trackers, dashboards and similar that clearly display the status of documents, to increase divisional awareness of the document hierarchy and identifies clear document links to ensure the currency and accuracy of documents is maintained.
  • Compiles reports related to divisional policies, procedures and other documents; ensuring that reports and advice are provided within the prescribed framework and meets standards.
  • Assists in the preparation of executive, board, and ministerial briefing papers and responses, as required.
  • Completes various project management and administrative documentation and activities in line with government policy, procurement, databases, quality assurance, data recording and management and template documents.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with external service providers, client departments, agencies and key stakeholders to achieve effective service outcomes.
  • Proactively contribute to the development and achievement of team goals and plans and support other team members to achieve their objectives.

About you:
Ideally you will have demonstrated experience working in a similar technical writing role as well as:

  • Strong experience in writing and editing a range of high-level technical reports to a publishable standard.
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in English Language, Building, Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Familiarity with interpreting construction reports, plans, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Good analytical and conceptual skills including a sound understanding of economic and commercial principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills including advanced skills in presenting technical content for non-specialists.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders.
