Security Clearances required for personnel working on this Task:

The proposed personnel will possess a minimum AGSVA security clearance at Baseline with a view to achieving a NegVett1 level clearance within 6 months of commencement with JPEU.


Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage in a Technical Project Manager Level 1 for a 6 months assignment with potential extension in Port Wakefield SA.

Joint Proof and Experimental Unit is seeking support from a Service Provider to provide technical project management resources to support Defence explosive ordnance test and evaluation activities. Support is required in logistics/engineering and operations planning with the development of functional performance specifications, statements of requirement, statements of work for new and or replacement test support equipment, technical investigations, engineering design development for equipment used to support Test and Evaluation activities including, targets and weapons systems. Suitable candidates with appropriate training and experience may conduct technical investigations regarding explosive ordnance issues. Ideally candidates would have technical qualifications at a trade level in one (1) of these disciplines, a mechanical or electronic or armaments (or similar) with higher level qualifications to a Diploma / Advanced Diploma level in the same or similar skill areas. Experience and knowledge working within a T&E environment with explosives ordnance and related equipment would be well regarded but is not essential. The support services may include, but not be limited to:

  • carryout project management activities associated with equipment required to support T&E activities, including working with stakeholders to develop Statement of Requirement (SOR), Statement of Work (SOW), Functional Performance Specification (FPS);
  • carryout market research to determine equipment availability, rough order of magnitude costs, and alignment with stakeholder requirements;
  • conduct design development and integration activities in support of T&E activities and equipment's' Capability Life Cycle working within the JPEU engineering management System;
  • develop a project plan for the assignment that is being managed, be that equipment or T&E trials and or related projects;
  • work with the Engineering, Logistics and Operations team to plan and schedule required tasks to minimise operational disruption to the Ranges located at Graytown, Victoria and Port Wakefield, South Australia; and
  • work with the Business Team to seek funds availability, complete financial aspects of procurement, and establish enduring maintenance support contracts if required. Including system midlife upgrades and other support requirements.
  • Have the ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, specifications and other design documents to aid in design development and manufacturing activities;
  • conduct design development of mechanical systems and potentially related electrical/electronic systems;
  • having experience and knowledge regarding monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair parts and mechanical systems would be advantageous; and
  • having experience and knowledge regarding the collection of data via electronic systems such radars, noise and pressure sensors would be advantageous.
  • Suitably qualified technical project manager is required to undertake this task. The person should have:

Special requirements:

  1. Experience working in a project management role in a technical / engineering environment.
  2. Logistics management experience (in a Defence context) would be well regarded.
  3. Knowledge and experience working within a T&E environment or related fields.
  4. Ability to work within a team environment with multiple stakeholders, providing required outcomes under limited supervision and the ability to mentor other staff members.
  5. Experience in developing project plans and technical documentation within a T&E environment or engineering, operational or technical maintenance environment would be well regarded.

  • Level 1 from $465 to $665 per day depending on experience
  • Temporary contract for 6 months, with possibility to extend
  • Monday-Thursday eight and a half (8.5) hours and Friday six (6) hours.
  • The candidate is required to physically work all hours
