Our Federal Government client is seeking an candidates Expression of interest for APS6 Scientific, Pharmacy and Related Technical Professionals on a contract for 6 -12 months.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Scientific, Pharmacy and Related Technical Professionals positions are key positions performing a range of evaluation tasks, including, but not limited to:

  • assessment of individual adverse event following immunisation (AEFI) reports for vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines
  • regulation of blood and blood components
  • evaluation of infectious disease safety aspects of therapeutic goods
  • evaluation of quality aspects of biological medicines, including plasma derivatives and recombinant proteins
  • administration of the regulatory framework for biologicals (human cells and tissues), evaluation of quality and clinical aspects of biologicals and the authorisation of biologicals
  • evaluation of safety, quality and efficacy of new prescription medicines, and variations to prescription medicines
  • evaluation of Risk Management Plans (RMPs), Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSURs) for prescription medicines and biologicals and monitoring compliance of pharmaceutical companies with commitments
  • investigating new safety signals for medicines and vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, and undertaking regulatory actions in response to new safety concerns
  • assessment of medicine shortages reported by sponsors, and making recommendations for management actions
  • assessment of medicine shortage notifications and supply data to determine appropriate mitigation and management actions
  • assessment of applications for supply of overseas medicines for supply during a shortage
  • assessment of OTC medicine applications
  • post-market investigations and compliance reviews of listed medicines
  • safety and quality evaluation of new and existing registered complementary medicines and ingredients for use in listed medicines

Mandatory Requirement:

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • A relevant qualification in pharmacy, nursing, public health, health science, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, biological sciences, toxicology, medical sciences, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, biostatistics, epidemiology or any other relevant discipline from an Australian tertiary institution or comparable overseas qualification.

  • Ability to evaluate and critique scientific data to a high standard;
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication that is suited to a varied audience;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team;
  • High emotional intelligence - demonstrated self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and ability to build/foster enduring, healthy and inclusive relationships;
  • Undertake research and analysis in the safety, quality and/or efficacy evaluation of medicines;
  • Prepare technical and scientific recommendations, reports, and guidelines, including through the use of international regulatory evaluation reports;
  • Managing and coordinating applications to ensure legislative deadlines are met in a timely manner;
  • Ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks, respond positively and flexibly to change and produce quality outputs to tight deadlines;
  • Initiative and accountability in identifying and solving problems in alignment with organisational priorities;
  • Working collaboratively in a busy and dynamic environment;
  • Maintaining specialist technical knowledge and continuing to develop knowledge and expertise in self
