Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS5 Team Leader on a contract until Juner 2020, with potential extension.

Position Overview

Team Leaders (TL5) provide support to their leadership groups by managing a team of APS3 service officers in their day-to-day operations. They provide support to the team, approve leave and allocate and monitor workload and performance. Team Leaders (TL5) work with their leadership groups to resolve escalated issues, identify and address staff learning and development needs and implement change.

Team Leaders (TL5) work under the support and general direction of their leadership groups. They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions within defined parameters that require some reliance on skills and knowledge. Team Leaders (TL5) plan their own and team work goals in the context of competing priorities and contribute to changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • support their leadership team to manage the day-to-day operations of service officers, including supporting staff and their health and wellbeing, approving leave, monitoring attendance, workload and performance, and allocating work
  • in collaboration with the leadership team, identify and address staff learning and development needs, which may include coaching and training
  • manage operations to improve productivity. This includes monitoring and managing the inflow if claims to process, developing strategies to manage demand and resources and reporting and collaborating with stakeholders to share information
  • prepare the staff roster and allocate work based on resources and priorities
  • monitor and report on the achievement of business outcomes, key performance indicators and quality assurance to assist management to support overall performance
  • check the work of service officers to monitor accuracy, quality of work and decision making against established performance standards
  • assist in the mentoring and training of new staff to build service delivery capability
  • exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
