The Organisation

This large Federal Government Organisation is seeking a number of Tax Specialists to join the team in 18 month contract positions, based across a variety of Melbourne locations.

The Role

As an Tax Specialist, you will be a key member of a collaborative team with potential to influence and shape the domestic and international tax systems. As a team member working in one of the taskforce work programs, you will improve tax compliance in an advisory, analytical, compliance or assurance review role.

Duties will include but won't be limited to;
-Provide quality advice on tax compliance risks and tax law policy development
-Identification and dealing with aggressive tax planning, including the application of integrity measures
-Undertaking tax due diligence and identifying areas of risk from tax and financial information
-Negotiate with clients and stakeholders using professional judgement and knowledge to influence outcomes

About you

-As a recognised Tax Specialist with a record of achievement in the field(s) of taxation, accounting, commerce or law, your commercial experience will be invaluable to your role.
-In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
-A tertiary degree in Tax, Accounting, Commerce or Law (essential)
-3+ years' experience (not including a Graduate program) in the tax, accounting or law fields (ideally from a mid-tier or big 4 firm) (essential)
-Accounting or financial statement analysis experience
-Experience in tax risk and tax technical (income tax and GST)
-Knowledge and experience of the income tax and GST legislative and financial environments, particularly in the areas of large public groups, multinational enterprises and private groups
-An understanding and experience of the structures and tax planning approaches used in the multinational enterprises and large public groups, private groups and high wealth individual markets
-The ability to understand, engage and treat common and emerging income tax and GST issues facing publicly listed and multinational taxpayers and private groups associated with wealthy individuals

A National Police Records Clearance is required, therefore Australian Citizenship and a 5 year footprint in Australia is essential.
