We are now seeking a Strategic Projects Manager to coordinate and facilitate under the direction of the Executive Manager, Council’s strategic projects from inception to implementation.

Why the team needs you

Reporting to the Executive Manager Strategy, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of Council, by ensuring programs and projects support the sustainable achievement of Council objectives. You will manage team plans and budgets, to ensure organisational priorities, goals and objectives are met and apply understanding of political, social, and legal influences in conjunction with organisational culture to all initiatives and actions, as well as:
  • Undertake research and investigations on a diverse range of priority strategic projects as determined by Council and/or as detailed in Delivery and Operational Plans.
  • Develop consultant briefs and project scopes for strategic projects in accordance with Council’s Project Management Framework.
  • Create and present strategies and plans.
  • Coordinate and manage project consultants as required in the delivery of projects.
  • Develop and manage project budgets.
  • Develop project management plans.
  • Coordinate internal working groups on priority strategic projects as required.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to be used against priority strategic projects.
  • Undertake regular progress reporting against priority strategic projects and their KPI’s.
  • Present regular updates to Executive on progress against priority strategic projects.
  • Manage project risks and impacts, and address issues as they arise.
  • Conduct post implementation project evaluations with key stakeholders to identify project successes, failures, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Take a holistic view of Council’s strategic priorities to ensure, and identify opportunities for, successful
  • integration and collaboration in relation to project delivery.
  • Liaise with Council staff and other stakeholders in relation to priority strategic projects.
  • Use appropriate technology to assist in the communication of project outcomes and to prepare professional quality planning documents and for communication
 What you’ll bring to the team

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in creating and presenting strategic documents and plans. You will have a forward-thinking approach with a strong  focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
 A leadership role, you will have proven experience in leading and motivating a diverse multidisciplinary team including collaborating with other areas across the business to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes as well as:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills including the ability to manage the delivery of projects involving diverse groups of stakeholders and cross functional work teams
  • Experience performing analysis of data and market research to support the development of innovative solutions and data-based decision making
