We are now seeking a Strategic Land Use Planning Manager to initiate, lead and manage the delivery of innovative and effective land use planning strategies, infrastructure funding and delivery plans to achieve specific outcomes identified in the Community Strategic Plan and Council’s lead strategies.

Why the team needs you
Reporting directly to Executive Manager Strategy, this leadership position will action the strategic direction of Council, by ensuring programs and projects support the achievement of Council objectives.
The Strategic Land Use Planning Manager will also lead, support, and coordinate the day-to-day operations to drive operational outcomes and high performance within their team. Through a collaborative approach to team culture, the Strategic Land Use Planning Manager will coordinate their team’s activities, and lead change and improvement opportunities across their functional areas and ensure comprehensive and innovative best practice outcomes for the Council.

What you’ll bring to the team
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated, collaborative, and person-centred leader who has proven experience leading and managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams within a corporate, government or commercial setting. Your demonstrated experience in delivering innovative and effective plans and strategies partnered with your conceptual skills in finding solutions to challenging situations by means of research, analysing data and synthesising results into tangible outcomes will see you succeed in this role.

The successful applicant will have outstanding personal attributes including personal drive and integrity, advanced written, verbal, and consultative communication skills as well as:
  • Tertiary qualifications in town planning, urban design, or a related discipline
  • 5 years or more experience in delivering innovative and effective land use plans, strategies, and contribution plans
  • 5 years or more leading diverse, multidisciplinary teams
  • Post graduate qualifications in business or project management
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to translate technical information into plain English
  • Practical IT skills applicable to strategic planning and the ability to use Geographic Information Systems
