Our client is seeking to engage a Strategic Innovation Engagement Lead on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

So, our ideal candidate is someone who can also navigate and lead a team through the complexities of engagements they themselves have designed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Combine empathy, creative instinct and business savvy to identify opportunities for customers to create value for their business and its stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of researchers, designers, and technologists to design and conduct bespoke innovation engagements that benefit the customer
  • Champion a human-centered, entrepreneurial approach to strategic enterprise transformation with customers, partners and account teams.
  • Develop original frameworks, concepts, and visions to design and shape critical conversations with customers.
  • Bring complex solutions to life creatively, efficiently and powerfully through prototyping
  • Create and deliver compelling value narratives that capture insight and inspire executive-level audiences
  • Generate provocations and stimulus that inspire the broader team and customer
  • Facilitate complex work sessions for C-suite executives, key decision-makers and cross-functional teams to understand their needs and ambitions, and/or to articulate a in the future of their businesses
  • Anticipate potential political and operational opportunities and barriers, and build alignment and momentum towards a vision
  • Articulate the value of design and the logic of design choices, while supporting a robust culture of constructive, open critique
  • Show courage and flexibility in determining the level of fidelity of stimulus, presentation, and activities to effectively capture deep user insights and communicate story and strategy to the customer
  • Build familiarity with platform capabilities and leverage it to inspire teams and customers
  • Monitor and share emergent, disruptive trends in strategy, technology, and business
  • Frame new opportunities and concepts that deliver value to customers and end users, balancing constraints, and knit together holistic visions of future customer success

Our Ideal Candidates have:

  • 2+ years of experience in innovation consulting or entrepreneurial work
  • Passionate curiosity regarding emerging trends in innovation, business strategy, and the challenges of transforming large enterprises, and enthusiasm for using the design process to make businesses more effective, relevant and successful.
  • A successful track record of engaging stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing human-centred innovation processes
  • Experience translating human-centred research into actionable innovation opportunities
  • Strong business acumen with knowledge of strategy, business model design, design thinking, and innovation processes
  • Exemplary verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, plus strong facilitation skills with an ability to balance conversation in mixed groups and manage political dynamics
  • Knowledge of enterprise business processes and technology
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity, and helping other team members through it,
  • Experience and comfort working in a culture of critique and iteration
  • Entrepreneurial bias for action with ability to resolve problems with limited resources and input
  • Empathetic and flexible in communication and work styles depending on context
  • Self-motivated, a good communicator, and able to balance quality deliverables with tight deadlines.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field, e.g. business, design, innovation, etc.
  • Experience championing design practices or mindsets in public, through teaching, publishing, speaking etc
  • Agile and/or lean experience ideally in Large Enterprise context
  • Experience working with major brands and innovators in ANZ and Asia Pacific
