Position title: Stand Alone Power System (SAPS) Engineer - UTILITIES
Contract Estimation Duration: 12 months (+ possibility of extension(s))
Company Type / Size: Government / Tier 1

Salary / Rate: $495-$520 p/d + Super
Purpose of this position:
The Stand-Alone Power System Engineer is responsible for subject matter expertise in both standalone power system (SAPS) and battery energy storage systems for a range of energy solutions for the clients customers.

This role is performed in direct collaboration with the Energy Solutions Delivery and Sales teams that deliver profitable growth to the Business Energy Solution (BES) markets.

The role's function is across both project delivery and asset management functions and the engineer will use their expertise to develop customer focused energy grid connected storage systems and stand-alone power systems from a concept through to detailed design.

The engineer will also support existing energy storage and SAPS assets in-field and provide recommendations for optimization and maintenance of these systems.

General Requirements:
The SAPS Engineer:

  • supports the BES Project Managers, BES contractors and our customers to scope, design and develop technical solutions that meet the customers' requirements.
  • leverages existing and new suppliers, installation contractors and C&I Supply Chain teams to identify and implement opportunities to innovate and value add opportunities to designed solutions
  • provide asset management and maintenance support for existing energy solutions
  • collaborates with Business Energy Solutions project management team to ensure that all proposed solutions are in agreement with the clients' project delivery process.

     Implement and clearly communicated the clients' Health, Safety and Environmental policies through design practices and to external contractors.
     Develop and manage the design process for SAPS and energy storage projects from inception to installation, commissioning and asset management. This will include preparation of system designs and design functional requirements, review of design
     Support the BES project managers and asset managers to ensure the customer experience is maintained by consistent and authentic communication.
     The SAPS engineer is the contact point for resolution of technical issues through design, commissioning and asset management of SAPS and battery energy storage systems.
     Continuously monitor and review engineering processes against Australian Standards and industry best practise to identify and implement improvement measures.
     Uphold quality assessment by assessing project design and completed installations for compliance with CEC, Australian Standards, DNSP requirements and industry best practise.

    Technical Scope:
  • Demonstrated success in developing technical designs for EPC projects.
  • Past experience working with varying SAPS configurations and energy storage technologies.
  • Experience in commissioning and remote support for commissioning and asset management of SAPS and energy storage systems.
  • Familiarity with common SAPS monitoring platforms, communication systems and data analysis for maintenance optimisations.
  • Understanding of the core fundamentals of project management and project engineering
  • High-level technical written and verbal communication with ability to provide customer-facing presentations and documentation.
  • Self-motivated, achievement oriented, well disciplined, task focused with a strong sense of timeliness

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within the energy industry delivering Stand Alone Power Systems, energy storage, solar PV or distributed energy projects.
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is essential, as is a solid track record in solar and battery storage engineering or related engineering.
  • Relevant Clean Energy Council Design (or Installation) accreditation is preferred.
