The Opportunity
Chandler Macleod is looking to engage a Sports Officer for a contract term of 6 months with a well-established NSW Government department. This role will be based in Centennial Parklands.

About the Role
Greater Sydney Parklands is a NSW government city-wide agency created to become Sydney's leading urban parks advocate. In partnership with communities, state and federal government agencies, and local councils, it will plan for and expand great open spaces and parklands and champion the NSW Government's new 50 Year Vision for Sydney's Open Space and Parklands.

Greater Sydney Parklands currently brings together in a combined administration three independent Parks agencies and Trusts: the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust, Parramatta Park Trust, and Western Sydney Parklands Trust, as well as the parklands of Callan Park and Fernhill Estate.

About the Team
We are seeking an individual to work within the Sport & Recreation(S&R) department at Sydney's Centennial Parklands, inclusive of Moore Park, Centennial Park and Queen's Park - Australia's largest community sporting precinct accommodates in excess of 40 playing fields, 35 sports and 700+ community sporting organisations. As a self-funding entity which only receives government funding for extensive capital projects the Parklands are reliant on operating revenue supporting the parks extensive maintenance and improvement programs.

A small team but highly productively team that prides itself on constant progress and delivering favourable outcomes for the organisation and customer base, the Sport & Recreation department generates in excess of $22million a year in revenue.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide high quality customer service and information to the general public, customers, hirers regarding recreation and sporting opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, capable of negotiating positive outcomes and building support for the implementation of products.
  • Provide support to bookings administration, including managing payments and undertaking financial management procedures as required for users of sport and recreation facilities.
  • Maintain administration systems and relevant databases in relation to regular sporting user groups, facility allocation, membership and contact details to ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Monitor compliance with booking terms and operational guidelines to ensure safe and effective usage of public sporting facilities across the portfolio.

    Key Challenges
  • Ensuring administrative support is provided in timely and efficient manner for diverse stakeholders across multiple facilities with minimal supervision in a high-volume environment.
  • Managing competing internal and external stakeholder requirements and expectations with limited resources.

About You
The role will be strongly supported by the team leader, Manager Sport & Recreation.

The right person for this role:

  • Will be passionate about delivering community based programs enabling people's activity and the utilisation of one of the world's premier urban parks.
  • Will be capable of developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, capable of negotiating favourable outcomes and building support for the implementation of products.
  • It is expected the appropriate individual will be skilled and confident in the various software packages utilised in a modern office.
  • Experience in office administration, financial administration, logistics and records management systems.
