Position title: Snr Civil Project Engineer - Water and Wastewater
Contract Estimation Duration: Permanent
Company Type / Size: Tier 1 - National Commercial Company
Location: Manly - NSW
Salary / Rate: $140K - $165K + Super (DOE - Neg)
Purpose of this position:
Provide engineering support and project schedule management duties as delegated by the Project Manager and Lead

General Requirements:

  • Prepare and monitor project management plans including hazard and aspect identification and risk management.
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management.
  • Analyse survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
  • Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors to determine design specifications.
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation based on Sydney Water standards.
  • Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labour to determine project feasibility.
  • Liaise between stakeholders and clients to manage concerns on current and future projects.
  • Stop, reject and prevent access to non-complying or unsafe plant, equipment, materials, methods and
    work areas.
  • Raise Report Actions for non-conforming works, safety or environmental issues.
  • Implement the Client's IMS procedures and systems as applicable to the project.
  • Identify risks and develop safe work procedures in consultation with the Site Supervisor and site
  • personnel.
  • Review and control all fabrication and construction activities to minimise the risk to all personnel in the workplace.
  • Carry out project planning and resource requirements for all project activities for the implementation of management plans and safe work procedures.
  • Lead by example and stimulate a high level of safety awareness at all times.
  • Always insist on correct and safe work practices.
  • Report any accidents and incidents immediately to the Project Manager.
  • Prepare, publish, and disseminate Project WHS Management Plans and procedures.
  • Review safety reports carry out inspections and prepare action plans.
  • Assist the Foreman and Site Supervisor in conducting accident/incident investigations and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in safety meetings and programs.
  • Coordinate project specific WHS training, inductions and communication.
  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures for projects in consultation with the Site Supervisor.
  • Regularly report on safety performance to the Contract/Operations Manager and the HSEQ Manager.
  • Maintain all project-related safety records.
  • Conduct project inductions.
  • Developing and implementing emergency procedures.
  • Identifying safety training needs for workers.
  • Review Subcontractor Safe Work Method Statements prior to them commencing on the Project.
  • Ensuring all tasks are executed with zero harm to people, plant and the environment.
  • Executing designated work activities in a diligent and efficient manner to meet project milestones and goals.
  • Ensuring inspection and quality control of all project deliverables is in accordance with the requirements of this PMP.
  • Reporting quality, safety or environmental issues to the Supervisor immediately.

    Technical Scope:
  • Engagement of Subcontractors and suppliers for Earthworks and Concrete FRP works, building works + others as required, (prepare tender doc, review tenders, negotiations, recommend and award)
  • Management of subcontractors to delivery civil works for the project including:
  • Drainage works
  • Services relocation
  • Bulk earthworks for 2 digesters (concrete tanks 20m diameter 19m high)
  • Concrete works for digesters
  • Building works for mechanical equipment
  • Structural steelwork for platforms and stairs and RDT platform
  • Footing installation for Cogen unit, RDT platform and other miscellaneous footings for pipe racks Pavement and road restorations
  • Management of subcontractor to deliver two major concrete tanks (digesters)
  • Develop and review construction methodologies with team and subcontractors.
  • Organise and manage the supply of concrete, reinforcement and other embedded items.
  • Responsible for managing the budget for the civil works and providing monthly forecast and cashflow.
  • Planning works to be delivered in line with the schedule and coordination with the operating treatment plant.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining quality records for the civil work.
