Chandler Macleod are currently seeking a Site Surveillance Officer to join their team contracted to our valued client in Albury, NSW.

The Site Surveillance Officer provides support across the monitoring and reporting of site based activities. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following;

  • Monitoring and reporting of all onsite activities across a broad range of projects
  • Monitoring works and any required reworks to ensure that they are constructed in accordance with agreed drawings, standards and specifications
  • Maintaining a diary of observations and effectively escalating any areas of concern as required to Project Managers and Engineers as required
  • Maintaining detailed daily site records of work performed and construction activities (including photographs) to ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the project quality system and agreed contract documents
  • Undertaking inspections, reviews and signs off on behalf of the representative for contractor works requiring release of construction witness and hold points
  • Conduct routine safety and environmental management and risk assessments along with safe work method statement reviews to ensure that work is completed in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner
  • Liaising with a broad range of third parties and stakeholders including internal divisions, external stakeholders, contractors and authorities
  • Coordinating and ensuring site access is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedures
  • Participating in scope development, scope reviews, tender documentation preparation and pre-planning activities
  • Assist the project team in the review and analysis of variation submissions

    The role will be based in Albury throughout the construction duration and applicants ideally require a sound understanding of, experience with and ability to effectively apply the following:
  • Understanding of Rail Safety Act 2006 (VIC)
  • Experience in Rail construction supervision &/or site surveillance specifically related to track, stations (or buildings) and OCS assets (desirable)
  • Experience in construction management with respect to safety, environment, quality & risk
  • Experience as a supervisor, within a Greenfields or Brownfields Rail environment (desirable)
  • Assisting in safety supervision and carry out inspections
  • Monitoring construction activities onsite
  • Monitoring & observing the quality of construction activities
  • Providing regular progress reports to the Project Manager
  • Liaising with contractors and third parties onsite

    Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant Qualifications in Civil/Rail construction or a similar relatable discipline is required (eg. OH&S or Environmental qualifications (supervisory level)
  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant work experience in construction supervision
  • Proven experience in Rail or road construction is a requirement. Experience in utilities and building services is advantageous, but not essential
  • Good communication skills with demonstrated ability to tailor communication style to suit a variety of different audiences
  • Stakeholder engagement experience with ability to build rapport and relationships with a range of different stakeholders at various levels
  • Current Driver's License
