Position title: Senior Transport Planner - Road
Contract Estimation Duration: Contract - 4/5 Months - Possibility of Extensions.
Company Type / Size: Government - Road Transport
Location: W.F.H. / Sydney CBD
Salary / Rate: [ $500 - $750 P.D. NEG - DOE ] - Up to Grade 8


Purpose of this position:
The Senior Transport Planner ensures that the Clients' strategic plans, projects and goals align and support a range of State Agency and Local Government plans, directions, projects, and activities.

General Requirements:

  • Provide strategic advice, recommendations, and support documentation to management on transport planning options, proposals, and reforms.
  • Coordinate the Clients' engagement with intergovernmental transport and planning groups to achieve alignment of the organisations' goals with other state agencies and Local Government objectivates.
  • Undertake and support others with research and analysis to develop strategies, guidance and initiatives and ensuring consistency with the Clients' strategic objectives.
  • Analyse and evaluate transport planning options and develop solutions to address issues both within the transport industry and across interconnected activities.
  • Participate in committees and working groups and represent the Client on external advisory committees.
  • Coordinates communicate and risk manage issues arising from State Agency or Local Government.

    Technical Scope:
     Ensuring key projects and strategies in the organisational plan reflects the company's' vision and objectives, to meet transport and land use needs for the next 40 years.
     Representing transport objectives and outcomes across the branch, to ensure identification with and contribution to resolving branch problems and sharing in branch activities.
     Ensuring transport plans are informed by robust analysis and transport cluster consultation to achieve a safer, more reliable, efficient, and sustainable public transport system that meet customer needs and offer value for money.
     Developing and managing key external stakeholder relationships and communications and negotiating agreed positions and solutions from conflicting and/or competing agendas.
     Working flexible to engage and collaborate with cross cluster patterns while managing competing work priorities to deliver on agreed timelines.
     Keeping abreast of current and emerging best practice, government policy and statutory requirements.

    Education:
    Relevant qualifications in planning or engineering or equivalent experience in Road Transport.
