Senior Tax Advisor
Salary: $130K + Super

Role Summery
The purpose of the Senior Tax Advisor is to assist with the tax compliance of Group Tax's Australian tax obligations, primarily in direct tax and provision of tax advice.

Key Activities and Deliverables

  1. Review and preparation of income tax return, research and draft tax position papers in support the transactions in the annual tax consolidated tax return.
  2. Review/prepare monthly and annual tax effect accounting calculations including half year and annual statutory accounts disclosures for a large corporate.
  3. Provide technical advice to stakeholders on a range of taxation queries, primarily in direct tax.
  4. Participate in ad hoc projects and undertake taxation research as required (including but not limited to M&A activity, business integration activities, etc)
  5. Assist with queries (where required) from the ATO and other relevant taxation authorities.
  6. Tax management of tax governance framework and policies.
  7. Drive excellence by promoting and supporting business improvement measures (including tax compliance systems and process optimisation).

  • Provide guidance to stakeholders about the interpretation and application of taxation law, policies and procedures to assist them in achieving their business unit goals
  • Keep abreast of developments impacting on the business and ensuring that the business is aware of its tax compliance responsibilities

    Tax Compliance
  • Assist the team to ensure the group complies with relevant taxation laws, rulings and requests both domestically and internationally by:
  • Assisting with the production of timely and accurate taxation returns, e.g. income tax returns and tax effect accounting reports and tax position papers.

    Projects
  • Actively participate in and assist in projects to ensure the business fully considers the taxation impacts of the project and projects related to tax governance.

    Required Capabilities and Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of large corporate tax experience gained in Big 4 or second tier and/or multinational corporate
  • Strong tax effect accounting and Australian tax technical skills
  • Ability to manage end to end core tax compliance obligations including preparation and consolidated company tax return and tax reporting for large listed corporate groups.
  • Sound knowledge of Global Integrator (tax return software) and S4 Hanna (ERP system) advantageous
  • Ability to analyse and communicate clearly financial and tax information.
  • Friendly, approachable and have good relationship management skills
  • May require out of hours work to meet deadlines on occasion
