Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Procurement and Contract Management Trainer on a s26 or ongoing position.

About the role:

The Senior Procurement and Contract Management Trainer is responsible for all facets of the delivery of procurement and contract management training packages. This includes engagement with key stakeholders, research and development of training material, the delivery of training programs and subsequent evaluation and continuous improvement of training products.

If you enjoy engaging with people and would like to take on this exciting role; not only will you be extending your professional development, but you will also have the opportunity to pass on your skills and knowledge to upcoming practitioners who are keen to kick-start their procurement or contract management career; or are simply looking to better their current skills.

You will be part of a small team, working in a supportive work environment, where you will be given every opportunity to expand on your skill set.

Our ideal candidate:

As a trainer, you will be agile with the capacity to move between both course design and development tasks, through to presentation and facilitation, with a good understanding of adult learning principles. This is not purely a desk based role and our ideal candidate will be confident, capable and effective in communicating information in a one-on-one or group classroom format.

As a motivated APS6 you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of essential office applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. You will also be generally tech savvy with programs such as Cisco WebEx and Microsoft Teams.

Specific duties/responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a range of in-house procurement and contract management skills programs to support the ongoing professional development of procurement and contract management practitioners
  • Prepare a range of written material including training and guidance material, articles and communication notices relating to procurement and contract management
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of the Department's bi-monthly procurement and contract management Community of Practice forum
  • Assist in the implementation of whole-of-government and departmental procurement initiatives
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of procurement strategies, policies and practices and an awareness of Australian Government priorities and initiatives that have implications for procurement and contract management
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of the policies that support the effective governance, development and delivery of learning and development activity in the Department
  • Build, maintain and promote internal and external stakeholder relationships, including liaison with other sections and external agencies to facilitate cross-agency planning and program delivery
  • Follow defined service quality standards within the APS leadership framework and values with an emphasis on commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement directed towards the achievement of the branch goals and objectives.

Role requirements/qualifications:

  • Strong legislative awareness and a commitment to continuing professional development
  • Strong communication, writing, engagement and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on outcomes
  • Highly desirable requirement of Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting or equivalent experience
  • Highly desirable requirement of Certificate IV Training and Assessment or the willingness to obtain.
