Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Safety Campaign Manager on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Branch Manager, Engagement, Communications and Safety Education, the Specified Personnel will be:

  • Leading a small team: leading the team responsible for delivering safety campaigns and activities aligned with organisational priorities and safety risks with a specific focus on drone education, awareness and a future registration scheme
  • Leading the development and implementation of communication strategies: leading the team and providing strategic direction into development of integrated communications and advertising strategies for both drone and pilot safety activities
  • Management of contractors, agencies and procurements: writing, editing and providing guidance and support to the team to develop research, creative, advertising and other briefs for the delivery of key campaign elements
  • Driving the organisation's strategic safety promotion campaign activities: working across the organisation, division and branch to deliver communication outcomes with a clear behavioural change aspect and which improve and drive safety outcomes.


Specified Personnel will be responsible for the following:

  • manage a small team to successfully implement the pilot safety campaign
  • ongoing management of the development of the Know Your Drone registration campaign and delivery of communication support on the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) business as usual work including upcoming Part 101 changes


Specified Personnel will be responsible for the following:

  • working across the branch and organisation to develop a communication strategy that will help to ensure a high uptake of drone registration and accreditation and promote key changes in behaviour for pilots to improve safety outcomes
  • managing all contracted services, such as advertising and market research agencies on work being undertaken
  • developing a communication strategy that takes into account previous campaigns and strategies and considers new and innovative approaches, being mindful of cost and resource constraints
  • using market research to inform decisions
  • developing and guiding the development of creative briefs as/if required, reviewing concepts and media plans, providing recommendations and feedback
  • working cooperatively and collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop and implement communication and advertising strategies
  • ensuring consistency of all messaging and ensuring it achieves the intended outcomes
  • appropriate management of time and workload to ensure both delivery and quality of the position's responsibilities and deliverables
  • providing strategic input and direction for the organisation's safety education and promotion campaigns to ensure a whole of branch approach to initiatives
