Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Senior Research Officer on a contract until June 2021.

Position Overview

The Senior Research Officer position is with the Research, Data and Evaluation (RDE) Section. RDE is a small team tasked to develop and deliver the eSafety research program. We are seeking a research professional with a proven track-record of working on a range of research projects, dealing with diverse clients and information and data needs. Working as a critical part of the team, you will lead by example and help drive research outcomes for eSafety. We are looking for someone with a broad range of skills relevant to research, able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, possessing strong analytical, conceptual and communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • play a key role in the development and implementation of the eSafety's research and reporting program;
  • undertake analysis of data to identify key findings and trends;
  • develop and prepare a wide range of reporting outputs, including liaise with design and communications teams to ensure research assets and promotional material are finalised;
  • develop and manage external research consultancies including management of related procurement process;
  • prepare a range of research briefings for eSafety staff and external stakeholders;
  • work proactively and closely with staff across eSafety on specific research projects;
  • provide expert advice and guidance on client area research and information needs;
  • provide critical support to the manager of the research team in relation to operational and administrative activities.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver qualitative and quantitative research including the use of statistical analytical software such as SPSS to analyse and interrogate a range of administrative and survey data. Proficiency in the use of software such as Excel to support analysis and presentation of data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies including sampling theory and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Proven ability to apply professional knowledge and provide specialist advice in relation to the development of research in support of the eSafety's operational and strategic objectives including strong conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Strong experience in managing and delivery on research projects in a government environment, including the ability to bring multiple projects in on time and within budget, including good understanding of Commonwealth procurement processes.
  • Highly developed teamwork and negotiation skills. Including an ability to find innovative solutions to complex research questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong positive relationships with a network of key stakeholders, as well as a record of proactively assisting for a mutually beneficial relationship.
  • Capacity to focus in a high pressure environment and show resilience to achieve objectives even in difficult circumstances and to take on additional work as directed.
