Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Project Officer on a contract until December 2020, with potential extensions of 6 months.

Position Overview

As a trusted adviser, provide independent assurance through payment and fraud risk management, prevention, control and investigation to support the agency to protect the integrity of Government outlays. The Business Integrity (BI) Division is primarily responsible for ensuring programs are in place that:

  • address current and emerging areas of fraud and non-compliance
  • comply with the Commonwealth Fraud Control Framework 2017 through a range of internal fraud prevention and control initiatives.

Taskforce Integrity section within BI forms part of the Strengthening the Integrity of Welfare Payments Budget measure, which was announced as part of the 2015 Federal Budget. The taskforce is focused on detecting, deterring and investigating those individuals who actively try to defraud the welfare system and receive payments they are not entitled to. This is being done by applying a multijurisdictional, multidisciplinary approach to non-compliance and crime, applying a range of policing and administrative powers and public and private sector capacities to strengthen the integrity of the welfare payments system.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the project including development of project plans and schedules in accordance with the agency's project management framework
  • Manage regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues and ensure that project deliverables are fit for purpose
  • Prepare written material including business cases, executive briefs and corporate documentation
  • Contribute to the development of processes and procedures
  • Develop and support stakeholder relationships

Education and Experience:

  • Project management and/or project support experience in an APS environment (essential)
  • A self-starter with the ability to work with limited direction, when required
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience managing competing deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to manage upwards, providing support to the Assistant Director and Director
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a virtual team environment
  • Strong coordination and administration skills

Mandatory Requirements:

The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline clearance.
