We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Director for our client, a NSW Government agency, on an initial 12 month contract (with strong possibility of extension) to be based in their new offices in Sydney CBD and with the flexibility of WFH. The daily rate is up to $1200 per day including super. This is a client side, construction role and experience of end-to-end delivery of commercial building projects (not civil infrastructure) of over $20m is essential.

The Role:

Reporting into the Director, Major Projects, The Senior Project Director is required complete the delivery of time critical capital works projects and will help to manage a combined projects cost of $350-500 million

Key accountabilities

  • Lead a cross-portfolio team who assist in the development and delivery of Major Works programs by providing financial, reporting, quality assurance and procurement services
  • Lead engagement with major stakeholders including internal and central government agencies to ensure the smooth passage of capital works programs from planning and budget submissions through to delivery teams and subsequent management, reporting, safety and assurance.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with a range of Government Agencies, such as NSW Treasury, Infrastructure NSW, Finance and Environment and Planning

Selection criteria

  • Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in Construction, Engineering is essential
  • Extensive, successful project/program management of construction projects to a value of more than $20 million in Australia. Experience of managing construction projects in excess of $100m would be highly desirable
  • Client Side Project Management experience and ability to be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders is essential.
  • Proven experience of delivery projects of longer duration, typically up to 3 years, with clear objectives, potential for conflict and a number of influential key stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership to small teams and has demonstrated experience to achieve outcomes by providing constructive feedback to others around their performance, strengths and development needs.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Full working rights in Australia
