Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Senior Procurement Officer on a contract for 6 - 12 months with potential extension.

About the Role:

The Senior Procurement Officer must be able to work under limited direction, and in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and standard process, to undertake a range of procurement activities from strategic supply planning through to closure. The position requires a person with a strong understanding of procurement and contract management and the ability to provide excellent customer service.

Skills and qualities needed to carry out role:

  • Previous experience in procurement or contract management required.
  • Formal qualifications highly regarded.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with stakeholders and undertaking research and analysis to develop procurement documentation;
  • Setting and monitoring timeframes to support the delivery of procurements;
  • Interpreting and applying the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and providing associated procurement and probity advice to stakeholders; and
  • Contributing new ideas, including opportunities to improve the efficiency of business processes.

Skills & Experience:

The applicant should have the skills and abilities required to:

  • quickly acquire business knowledge of the work of the Provider Engagement and Management Branch;
  • have proficient IT and Excel skills
  • prioritise and manage multiple and parallel tasks;
  • effectively manage internal stakeholder relationships;
  • display high level attention to detail and analyse information to make sound judgements;
  • deliver high quality products in a timely manner; and
  • identify opportunities to improve business processes.
