About the Organisation:

Our client is a major department of the Victorian State Government. The Department leads the delivery of development services to children, young people, and adults both directly and indirectly through the regulation and funding of early childhood services and programs. This is an exciting opportunity to engage in meaningful work with a well-established team.

About the Role:

As the Senior Policy Officer, you will be assisting with projects aimed at building a world class Victorian training/system that provides participants with high-quality training that leads to jobs in demand by industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan the policy development process, identifying decision makers, policy requirements, issues and risks and key stakeholders
  • Undertake research and analysis to identify policy issues and inform the policy development process
  • Engage in stakeholder negotiations to reach accepted, implementable policy outcomes
  • Prepare and, as appropriate, present discussion papers, submissions, reports and briefings for committees, expert bodies, ministers or key decision makers
  • Interpret statistical and qualitative data to help monitor trends and progress against key outcomes
  • Prepares simple documentation, manages records and processes

About you:

  • Previous experience in a similar role under Australian Government rules and regulations
  • High level of policy analysis, development and application ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent systems thinking
  • Great contract management skills
  • Creativity and innovative mindset
