Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Senior Policy Officer on a contract for 6 months with potential extension of 6 months.

Rate: Candidates Expectations

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • undertaking research and analysis and developing policy advice
  • contributing to the development of briefing, speeches, correspondence and reports for the Minister and executive
  • coordinating briefing input across the Department and other stakeholders.
  • supporting constructive and collaborative relationships with Ministers' offices, other areas of the department, Commonwealth agencies, state and territory agencies, industry representatives and community groups
  • representing the department in engagement with stakeholders and in a range of committees and forums
  • working as part of a team and contributing to effective team culture

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in policy development and/or cabinet process
  • An understanding of government processes
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Well-developed problem solving and analysis skills
  • Good organisational, administrative and coordination skills
  • Ability to work as a team and develop strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Self-starter and reliable


  • Experience working in or understanding of skills policy, education policy or employment policy
  • Tertiary qualificationss

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
