About the organisation:
Chandler Macleod is proudly partnering with a Government organisation that aims to create a liveable, inclusive and sustainable Victoria with thriving natural environments. The VPS5 Senior Policy Officer will work within a sector that is responsible for managing Victoria's water resources to meet future urban, rural and environmental needs.

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Policy Officer to engage a 6-month contract for an organisation within a State Government body.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Contribute to the design, development and implementation of strategic policy directions, business plans and reforms related to managing alignment of renewable energy development in regional Victoria with irrigation district sustainability
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships (both internal and external), to support the development of policy frameworks.
  • Proactively identify emerging strategic issues and opportunities for irrigation districts, where renewable energy developments are being considered.
  • Actively participate in senior internal and external working groups as required.
  • Actively contribute to other Rural Water Policy team priorities as required, such as analysing technical reports, and preparing presentations, options papers, and briefing documents.
  • To practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.

About You:
Ideally you will have relevant education and experience in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations, as well as:
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role - government background highly desirable
  • Fully vaccinated to be able to work in the office
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in economics, energy, natural resource management, agriculture, planning or other
  • Ability to identify common issues for stakeholders to be used to build mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Use stakeholders needs to implement amendments and achieve outcomes
  • Actively identify new areas for improvement and adjust effectively to change
  • Formulate and communicate policy options and recommendations
  • Incorporate strategic direction into day-to-day activities
