Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Payroll Officer for Non ongoing 6 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

The role of Senior Payroll Officer requires a person with strong payroll expertise and attention to detail. The position requires a motivated person with strong organisational skills and a commitment to providing high quality customer service.

Within the Payroll team, you will undertake a range of duties including, but not limited to:

  • processing all payroll tasks in relation to payment of salary and leave entitlements for the Attorney-General's Department and Canberra based portfolio collection agencies
  • prioritising own workloads in order to meet payroll deadlines and managing reporting tasks
  • preparing correspondence relating to the above functions, including record of actions undertaken on the service management system
  • personally managing sensitive interactions and processes, including contact with clients in relation to over and underpayments, recovery of monies owing and superannuation arrears
  • providing advice to clients and processing payroll matters, and
  • contributing to the development and implementation of enhancements to existing practices and procedures and innovative new approaches to meeting key performance indicators.

Job Specific Criteria:

  • A sound understanding of and a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply APS conditions of service, in accordance with the established legislation, workplace agreement and policy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resource Management Information Systems (preferably Aurion)
