Our client is seeking to engage a Senior Financial Accountant on a contract for 12 months.

Position Overview

The Fund Services team in our client's Wrap business provides banking and reconciliation, regulatory reporting, accounting and tax processing, and project support to various internal and external customers.

Primary purpose of position: Reconciling bank accounts, investigating outstanding items on reconciliations, banking services and project support, regulatory reporting for superannuation funds / IDPS funds / SMA funds, liaise with internal and external audit, maintaining the general ledger, preparation of monthly reconciliation files and other regulatory reporting.

The Fund Services team is involved in all areas across the wrap business and as such, each member of the team will need to be adaptable to a variety of different tasks and be flexible to accommodate peak periods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review bank account reconciliations to ensure that:
    • All bank balances always agree to system balances,
    • Outstanding items are effectively investigated and followed up.
  • Ensure all banking tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and review accounts for some funds on a regular basis to ensure that:
    • Ledgers are maintained on a regular basis
    • Outstanding items are effectively followed up and cleared in a timely manner
  • Prepare and review BASs, APRA returns, Financial Reports and tax returns before lodgement
  • Ensure all regulatory lodgements are met
  • Liaise with Auditors
  • Represent the team in projects
  • Coach junior staff

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

  • University degree in business/ accounting
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • 5 years + accounting experience
  • Good understanding of the financial services industry
  • Understanding of superannuation and tax law
