Our client AGL energy are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Analyst to join a contract role in Melbourne CBD in the Commercial and Industrial Team (C&I). You will display behaviours which reflect and actively demonstrate alignment to the AGL Values of: Safe, Sustainable, Inclusive and Focused.

This role is an eight-month contract to cover parental leave.


Key responsibilities:
This role will run, plan and report for the Commercial and Industrial Team (C&I).

  • Gain an in-depth knowledge of the C&I business to assist with financial & analytical analysis to provoke change and support decision making; includes partnering with business stakeholders where required.
  • Challenge and improve the forecast and budget processes to produce reliable financial forecasts.
  • Report on business performance results and metrics; providing analysis on drivers of variances
  • Prepare budget, forecasts and three-year plan in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Development and continually improve modelling capabilities (including maintenance of long-term financial models) and supporting analysis.
  • Identify and lead recommended system and process changes to improve efficiencies, accuracies & clarity of understanding of business results.
  • Own all end to end aspects of CAPEX establishment and funds release and reporting


    About You:
    You enjoy being at the front of your business partners & provide them with strategic insight. You are passionate about data analysis and able to summarise high volumes of data. Your data storytelling skills can make the complex simple.
  • Finance degree and CPA qualified.
  • You will be able to interpret large quantities of data from a variety of sources and make the complex simple.
  • You must have experience with multiple financial systems including SAP BPC and SAP S/4HANA.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.
  • Industry experience is ideal but not essential.
  • You thrive in fast paced deadline driven environments
  • You have experience with gross margins and building budgets from the bottom up.
  • You possess the ability to work flexibly and with agility, prioritise will change and you will be able to adapt to those changes to provide the best outcome for AGL, being comfortable with ambiguity is a strong suit in this role.
